About A Home for Every Child Walk and 5K

Saturday, June 7, 2014  -  One day, two locations!
Fort Washington State Park, Fort Washington, PA
The rolling hills and wooded acreage of Fort Washington State Park are a gorgeous [NEW!] setting for Bethany's Pennsylvania Walk and 5K Run. This park features two pavilions, a large playground, open field, and even a bird watch tower for race spectators! Schedule of Events
7:45 - Day of Runner and Walker Registration (cash or check only) and packet pick-up
8:30 - Race Start
9:30 - Race Awards
10:00 - Walk Start
10:30 - Kids Fun-run, face painting, and refreshments
12:00 - Closing remarks

5K Race
: During the out-and-back 5K, racers will travel 3.1 miles on the paved park road along rolling hills and through densely shaded areas. This popular training location is a beautiful course that beginners and experienced runners alike are sure to enjoy.
The challenging, certified course will start and finish at Parking Lot #3, and the event will be chip-timed. Strollers are welcomed, but must have a safety tether attached from the rear axle to the racer's wrist. Race marshals will be on hand to ensure the safety of all participants prior to the start, and strollers without a tether will be asked to not enter the race. Racers will finish and be directed to the refreshment tent before exiting the race area. Click here for the RACE MAP.
 
1 Mile Walk: Walkers will travel together through a pleasant section of the park through woods and on smooth paved road.
 
Awards: Racer awards will be presented to male and female over-all winners and by age group.
 
For the whole family: Fun activities for kids of all ages include LIVE kid's music, face painting, Kid's Fun Run by age group, cotton candy and snow cones. All registered participants will receive a wrist band at check-in and a voucher for a Chick-fil-A sandwich.
 
Parking and safety:
There are three main parking lots throughout the park and over 300 parking spaces.  Carpooling is encouraged.
5K Run participants: Please arrive by 8:15 and enter the park through the Joshua Road entrance.  You will be directed by parking attendants.
Walk Participants: If you are not attending the 5K run as a participant or spectator, it is recommended that you arrive after 9:15. For the safety of everyone in the park, the speed limit is 15mph, and drivers must yield to foot traffic.
Sorry, because some children are fearful of dogs, we respectfully ask that you do not bring your pet to this event.
 
 
Laurel Acres Park, Mount Laurel, NJ
The flat terrain of Laurel Acres Park surrounds a beautiful pond and is a perfect setting for New Jersey's Walk and 5K Run.
